It’s common to experience hype moments in tech, from simple topics to advanced concepts. I’m very cautious about immediately adopting a currently “hyped” technology. However, I still keep track of the main issues surrounding a particular subject or technology.
The process works like this: the greater interest in a particular subject, the more things will be created and discovered around it, bringing various knowledge benefits.
In the past two years, AI has been the buzzword of the moment, and as I mentioned above, it’s part of the process of something bigger being discovered or created. The concept of AI has had cycles since the 1950s, with research and investments. The first time I heard about artificial intelligence was more than 20 years ago, and back then, advancing artificial intelligence was far more complex.
The main point is that we need always follow hyped topics. We don’t need to dive deeply into every trending subject, as that’s impossible for one person, but if it’s something relevant to your professional context, follow influential people discussing the topic and read articles, blogs, sites, etc.
